I spend much of my time complicating things in search of the simple. We seem to have a knack for disguising the profoundly simple in a wash of words and other indirect explications. The things we seek; that we seek to understand or explain, they are with us already. They are not words or books or music or art or friends or love or food or travel or thought or study but they are us. We can hope to communicate to each other about these things, and what they are or were; how they came to be and where they will go - but we do not take the time to understand ourselves, and therefore cannot ever truly come to know what is going on around us. It's okay.
I often feel overwhelmed about what it is that I'm trying to accomplish at a particular time in my life. Many of us have subscribed so much of our time to these activities and hopes of prosperity that we accomplish little that we set out to. The art I make is temporary in nature and infrequent. That's the time I've made for it, though I think about it daily. I would say it is extremely important to me, but also that there are things in my life which teach me about myself as well. Even this struggle to perform tells me something. When it's the time for art, or the time for anything; I know it will be there for me, and I for it.
